NSM extends long-term partnership with Franmarine; supports Sovereign Industrial Capability

8 Sep 2020   //   Media, News,

Naval Ship Management (NSM) has signed a new long term Subcontract Agreement with Franmarine Underwater Services Pty Ltd which not only builds upon the current scope of works carried out across the Anzac Class Frigates through the Warship Asset Management Agreement’s (WAMA) sustainment program, but now also captures delivery of an extended scope on the Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) and LHD Landing Craft (LLC) vessels, nationally.

Under the newly formed subcontractor agreement, Franmarine will deliver underwater inspection, maintenance, repair and asset readiness across the Anzac Class, LHD and LLC vessels.

Franmarine’s Chief Executive Officer, Adam Falconer-West says the agreement validates Franmarine’s established capabilities as directly relative to Defence whilst simultaneously enabling the business to maintain its commitment towards innovation and continuous improvement.

“The agreement with NSM represents both further and future sustainable growth for our company and will lead to a more capable business contributing to a strengthening National Defence Industry” he said.

Franmarine is headquartered within the Australian Marine Complex, Western Australia and maintains a National footprint. Specialising in preventative maintenance and in-service support and sustainment solutions, the Australian owned commercial diving and underwater service specialist provides services across the Defence, shipping, infrastructure and resources industries.

Franmarine was recently formally recognised as a Sovereign Industrial Capability Priority (SICP) for the Eastern Seaboard delivery of all aspects of naval ships/vessel husbandry, including the underwater in-service support and sustainment to the Royal Australian Navy.

“This is a significant achievement and opportunity for Franmarine and provides immediate employment opportunities as well as increased business activity for its subcontractors and supply chain”.

“NSM has been of fundamental support in introducing and enabling the ongoing maturity of Franmarine’s capability. This successful SICP outcome is a testament to NSM’s dedication and support of both Franmarine and Defence Industry” Adam Falconer-West added.

Joe Smith, NSM’s General Manager says Franmarine has always been recognised as a key component of NSM’s supply chain and is thrilled to extend the partnership to the local, Australian SME.

“At NSM we pride ourselves on providing opportunities for Australian industry to both develop and expand its capabilities. The expansion of scope developed with Franmarine is a great example of our Australian Industry Capability Plan delivering on its commitments, building broader capability within a local company that contributes to achieving the Commonwealth’s sovereign capability objectives.”
